Intercultural consulting focuses on the cultural - national, corporate or professional – dimensions of business and international collaboration.
Intercultural consulting delivers knowledge and skills that enable people to quickly become more productive and effective when working in an unfamiliar culture or in an intercultural team.
Intercultural awareness and skills are increasingly seen as indispensable by businesses, educational institutions and NGOs operating in an international environment, as well as by the diplomatic community.
The first step in any intercultural consulting process is to build awareness of the client's own basic cultural assumptions and values and how these impact on our behaviour.
Step two is to decipher underlying world views of members of other cultures the client is interacting with.
The third step is to introduce knowledge and skills to manage the cultural differences identified, and to build bridges between these cultures.
A fourth step, where possible, is to capitalize on the cultural differences, and integrate or combine aspects of two or more cultures, thereby creating a “third culture”. |
